Zhytomyr Regional Ñenter of Mother and
Infant Health Care
 The utility enterprise «Zhytomyr Regional Ñenter of Mother and Infant Health Care» is a medical establishment of state form of ownership of the III level of providing medical assistance to pregnant women, women in labour, lying-in women and new born babies of Zhytomyr region.
Yury Vaysberg, Honored doctor of Ukraine, doctor gynaecologist of higher qualifying category, is the Chief Medical Officer of ZhytomyrRegional Centre of Mother and Infant Health Care.
There are 385 workers in the center among them 83 doctors and 137 members of nursing staff.
The international project «Mother and Infant Health Care» is functioning in Zhytomyr Regional Centre of Mother and Infant Health Care since November 2004. It was founded by USAID and introduced in Ukraine by «John Snow Corporation» in 2002 with the support of Agency of International Development of the USA. Modern perinatal technologies of WHO, based on evidential medicine principles are intensively introduced in the center:
- elimination of routine technologies and manipulations which might humiliate pregnant women or are not obligatory from delivery assistance;
- accompaniment of a woman during pregnancy and delivery by the members of her family;
- free access of members of family to a new-born and a woman after delivery;
- free pose using during deliveries;
- early «skin to the skin» contact of new-born babies and mothers;
- early breastfeeding on call of an infant;
- a conjoint stay of a mother and an infant in a labour ward and postnatal rooms even after operative deliveries;
- implementation of «clean hands» policy;
- introduction of the infectious checking system;
- observance of the thermal mode in the apartments to prevent hypothermia of infants.
By the decision of Ministry of Health the ZRCMIHC was acknowledged as a base establishment which introduces modern perinatal technologies.
In June, 2005 a center was given a title «Hospital, benevolent to the child».
Since 2006 the information center with access to Internet functions in Zhytomyr Regional Ñenter of Mother and Infant Health Care. It provides connection with medical establishments of other countries.
